8mm axle hubs - help needed

run into a small problem on the chromed sun bike. The axle width is 8 mm. The current wheels are steelies and not in good shape. I have a nice set off rims that I could buildup but I want to get a matching set of hubs to put in.

I have some 8 mm front hubs but alas they are 32hand I need 36h.

Question is has anyone filed 10mm axles down to fit, specifically quick release? Is there any problems doing this?

If I can do it I could also go 700c.

Filed down solid axles with two flats before but never hollow .... Judicious filing of the dropout might be more realistic?

If it was a normal bike then I have done that before but seeing as it's chromed I don't want to do that.

Put solid axles in the hubs that are currently QR and file the solid axles?

Yeah I may need to go down that route.

Think I've got this sorted now. Have found an old atom 36h front hub with 8mm axle :-).

Now onto building the wheel.
