I drove into a car park at a supermarket near me a few years ago that used number plate recognition and also had a display showing your reg number.

It read mine wrong on the way in (replaced an M in the plate with an N) but read it correctly on the way out. Don't know if they would have issued a 'ticket' to the owner of the car with the wrong plate but I'm certain that the model of car would not match therefore making it obvious it was issued in error.
