Hi guys
Sorry it's another garmin related question.
Looking into getting a Garmin as becoming a bit tired of google maps /phone battery life. Don't really care about cadence, speed, heart rate blah blah blah. I want a unit for map/gps. Only data I'm interested in is how many miles covered and maybe altitude gained.

I've used a Garmin Oregon 650 before for a long distance hike with 1:50,000 OS maps loaded and have had a play with base camp before. That garmin is not mine (parents) but is there a way that I can load the OS maps onto a cycling specific garmin I bought (if it came without maps) ? That may be a dumb question....

Sounds like you need a Garmin Dakota 20, or one of the Etrex range

Etrex's can be bike mounted, or the Edge Touring could have the OS maps loaded into it. They take a MicroSD card for the maps, and I think they work with BaseCamp.

Cheers guys. I'll have a look. I've had a go with someone else's Etrex before when hiking and didn't find it particularly easy to use but maybe newer models are more user friendly, will check it out
