I want to change all my cables on my road bike myself rather than taking it to the shop. I think I need the following

2 brake inner cables
2 brake outer cables
2 gear inner cables
2 gear outer cables
Plastic ferrules for the gear cables
metal ferrules for the brake cables
Cable end caps.... Are these the same ?

Have i missed anything. Is there anywhere you can buy a kit rather than having to buy each individually?

I was right about that saddle
Sounds about right. I assume all your cabling is external?

Are you re-using anything at all ?

There is a set on at Wiggle...(Please check these are correct for your bike, I've provided a link with little or no information about your bike)

You might need two of these, they are the gear cable tensioners,
They go up by your gear (and brake) levers

I had to order some as my cable snapped on a ride and one flew off

No I have internal routing to the rear brake... Does that make a difference other than the issue of getting it through the tube?

Not using any of the old stuff, never heard of gear cable tensioners thought I could do it by hand, will check that out.

Thanks for your time Rooster.

Decent pair of wire cutters with separate functions for inner & outer cable.

The cable end caps are the little metal tubes that go over the end of the cable to stop it fraying.

Plastic and metal ferrules are reusable, and metal ones seem to be hard to obtain on their own, especially shimano ones on their own.

If buying from Ebay or Amazon, don't trust the 'Stainless Steel' product description.

Guess how I know that!
