Was it a dead rat? Count yourself lucky then. One of my two cats will bring dead stuff home, however the other brings live animals in. He will wander to the bottom of the stairs and then either growl or miaow depending on his mood until I go downstairs to see what he wants. He will then deposit animal (mouse or bird usually) at my feet with a look on his face that says "Well I've done my bit, I brought it home, it's up to you what you do with it now" and then wanders nonchalantly off. I've got quite good at catching mice in particular, birds are more troublesome

His other neat trick is he actually likes mice but can't stand the nose for some reason so occasionally I'll wake up to a small pool of blood with a mouse's nose in the middle.

That's odd, even Baldrick's thought the nose was the best bit:smile:

normally we get an unidentifyable organ and not much else. I'm not a good enough anatomist to determine bird or mamal: the rest being eaten.

I have previously recounted the dead-rat-in-the-bed incident remenicent of the Godfather.

Despite initial timidity and being chased to the door by other cats, I think she's becoming the local Godfather herself now and hence confident to eat the snacks outside rather than bringing them in to safety. Found a big pile of (cat?) fur in the garden the other day, which looked very much like it had belonged to the local big bruiser cat - so our's is standing her ground a bit more it seems. Why can't they just get along hey?

Hill Wimp

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
My youngest who is just approaching a year old spent all summer bringing mice and birds in. I spent many an early morning hour liberating small animals from him or clearing up entrails.

These last few weeks it all seems to have stopped as he seems to be staying in more at night thank goodness.

The older cat is only four but she is not interested in catching anything apart from her catnip toy which she chucks around with a vengeance.

One of ours specialises in moles. He has a lot of fans in my neighbours

Today's present is a big juicy rat just arranged neatly on the front doorstep. Very many thanks pusscat
They're not trying hard enough. We had the remains of a rat deposited on the rug in the hallway, just in the right place to walk on if you weren't looking.

Edit/ just remembered - I think one of them 'lost' something upstairs this morning. Our female cat was sitting in the corner by the wardrobe staring at my slippers.

Woke up in the night last summer for a call of nature. Blood and guts all over Mrs 26's brand new landing carpet. Cat had come in through the open bedroom window (warm spell) and happily munched whatever. Trouble was I use the wrong kind of cleaner and permanently did for the carpet. Mrs 26 was definitely not amused.
