Hmm. I'm riding an audax in York on the Sunday, but I'm off work that week and I'm not sure what I'm doing yet (a C2C tour with some friends has fallen though). Put be down as a possible please and I'll firm up either way over the weekend.

Count me in! I did this last year and it was a great day out (the weather definitely helped)

If someone could flatten out that 20% hill by next month, that would be great!

Oh and if the heat gets to me and I suggest going up that serpentine road at the end someone please stop me!

Don't listen to them @Col5632 it's not nearly as hard as it looks. The secret is to find the person with paniers full of cake, stick to their back wheel, keep your eyes closed and follow the aroma all the way to the top! Worked for me last year...

Last year we started between 10 and 11am. It's not a huge distance to ride, so we've plenty of time

First train north from here arrives at 10:48*. Last train back would be 16:45*.

*same from Carlisle unless you want a really slow and/or far more expensive one
