You will need that time to make up the miles for your yearly target.

What went wrong?
I set the target on a moment of over optimistic enthusiasm
My usual milage is 3,500, mostly commuting and utilitarian.
I'm afraid long shifts at work, gardening and sleep won.
Also, I thought I would learn how to ride my road bike this year, thus hopefully ride more miles in less time. It did not happen, the bike is still hanging up in the spare room, never been ridden

Still more than me, and I ride an ebike most of the time as you know.

Your road mileage point is a good one.

Using tracks and cycle paths really slows the overall average, lots of stops for junctions and 10/12mph is plenty most of the time when there are other path users about.

A roadie bike will also be 2/3mph quicker than your hybrid for the same effort, so I'm sure you could do the 5,000 mile target - next year.

???? Sit on it, turn the pedals, and steer: same as all your other bikes. Less of the excuses, you slacker!
