I've bought myself a Raleigh steel frame bike to see what all the fuss is about (Martin B ). Not being a purist and because the wheels are 26 inch and out of true and crankset is 5 speed, I am converting it to a modern driveset and 700c wheels if I can (any advice welcome).
I am looking for a double crankset 170 mm and a band on front derailleur for a reasonable price if anyone has a suitable one.
I have a cottered crank and a pair of steel wheels size 26 and 3/8s(!) which a 5 speed cassette, which I could swap or part/ex for any suitable parts for mine. Alternatively once I get sorted out they are free to a good home.

Hi John,
Sorry for the delay - I've had a fiddle with the bike and managed to get a hollowtech BB fitted so I am going to get a newer crankset if I can get it to fit properly as I don't have any bearings or fixings for yours and hopefully it will be more likely to fit newer components.

Many Thanks
Steve.
