From the BBC:
Police are appealing for information from the public after a cyclist was discovered with serious head injuries in the Borders.

The 41-year-old was found by two passers-by on Shawpark Road in Selkirk at about 14:30 on Sunday.

He had previously been seen on a Raleigh Strada 3 bicycle.

The man was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment after the incident and police said he remained in a serious condition.

They said they were keen to establish the "full circumstances" of how he became injured.

The road was closed for about two hours to allow investigations to take place.

PC Rory Campbell said: "We're eager to establish the full circumstances which led to this man sustaining his injuries and would urge anyone who may have seen him around that time, or who has information which can help with our inquiries, to come forward.

"We're also looking to trace the young man and woman who assisted at the scene and administered aid to the injured man while waiting for an ambulance."
