Well, that was a real bomb but by the time that the photo was taken it had obviously been defused.
My dad spent some time in bomb disposal and mine clearance during WW II (he's the man on the left). I've got a great picture of him taken on a beach on the south coast somewhere (near Exeter or Plymouth) standing next to a pile of huge defused bombs, a couple of which must have been at least 10 feet long.
