You can pay for all the rides, buy a helmet and still have cash to spare from not doing one Etape or similar event.
And you get to your helmet in protest at the end of the rides, though I would just shove it away for 12 months.

Interestingly, the Hell of the North looks well doable, though maybe because I have done much of the route of quite recent.

done these rides for years...... the hell of the north is very doable the one I find hardest is the castle`s ride (have the routes on strava if needed)
