Weirdest thing, my flat just shook. Well, juddered. Twice. Only for a second, but very definite. Never happened like it before.

Sometimes, when another tenant slams a door, you can sort of feel it, but this was different.

Have I just had a little earthquake?

When I used to be a College, I, and others, would occasionally have a sideways feeling as though the building had just moved. I wouldn't worry about it.

After the one the other week, a suggestion was to check Twitter.
I just did and there's a few from yorkshire reckoning there was an earthquake.

    Nothing here though.

You were a college? Blimey, how big are you?

I'm not worried. Just interested. That 'big' quake we had 3 years back, woke me, and I could feel the building swaying very definitely - didn't know what the heck it was, assumed a minor earthquake, but it wasn't confirmed until I heard the radio news next morning. Being on my own, I couldn't turn to someone and ask "Did you feel that?", so I wondered if it was my brain going haywire.

Sounds like a large lorry may have driven past?

This was only a slight movement, but it was noticeable. Happened more than once too, and no, alcobooze wasn't involved at the time.

When we had a small one a couple of years ago it was on a night that the dog was elsewhere and I thought it was a shame as animals are supposed to be sensitive to them coming and I'd have liked to have seen how she reacted.

Yes I used to treat my body like a Temple, but I have since lost some weight.

I felt it! I was on the phone to my sister and suddenly it felt like someone had dropped a bag of spuds on the floor behind me! I told her that I'd check to see if a tremor was reported. It was at 21:04.

Well, it didn't get as far south as here. In fact I've never 'been in' an earthquake I could feel, but maybe one day .... in fact 'quakes are surprisingly common in the British Isles, it's just that they're mostly small ones and you have to be in the right place at the right time.

The nearest thing, for me, was entirely ersatz. When I used to work in Portslade, we had an active metal shop in our factory, with big presses and punches etc. going thud thud thud all day long. Despite working on the opposite side of the building I could hear and feel rumbles all the time. One day a much bigger thud occurred, quite out of the blue, and I could definitely feel the solid concrete floor beneath me shudder, almost as if a wave had passed through the ground. I, and several others nearby, thought, this ain't right, something's up over there, and we all rushed across to the metal shop expecting to see the place strewn with bodies. But nothing was amiss, work was going on there as smoothly as always.

It was only the next day that I learnt the truth. A massive WWII mine had been uncovered somewhere in the vicinity of nearby Shoreham Harbour, and the Bomb Disposal guys were called in: it seemed they decided to evacuate the surrounding area (our factory was just outside the area) and then set it off in a controlled explosion. Quite an event, brought lots of spectators crowded round the exclusion zone. And I missed it, all but the bump!

I live near to one of the highland fault lines and have dreamed for years that it'll erupt and destroy this sh*t hole of a place!

    I'm one to miss them...........

The only one I felt was in the late 80's....felt the office chair wiggle - was so busy looking round to see which 'joker' did it....... (office full of young 'uns.................)........

The stack of 'regular' tremors we had in the 90's one year, my wife was in Hong Kong, and I'm saying "yes, number 14 today" (over two weeks)..... I didn't feel one...........doh...................
