It’s not possible for me to install a home charger just yet, as I need a smart meter first and that can’t be installed yet for two reasons; the cut-out is metal cased, and it also contains asbestos.

I’m waiting for the DNO to arrange to replace it, hopefully fairly soon. Thankfully this will be at no cast to me.

Also, it turns out my electricity supply is 3-phase (so said the DNO guy who came out to inspect it) so does that mean I could stick in a 22kWh charger? I forget to ask him when he was here.

Listened to an excellent podcast on cars, battery technology, hydrogen etc on my walk this morning. The podcast was called " Dough, the future of cars " and it's available on the BBC.

That was a good listen and the expert rubbished the Idea of hydrogen cars. So he's clearly talking sense.

Wife has decided she likes her car so much, she wants to keep it forever!

120k miles

With that, I sent it in for Tesla service, new suspension arms, bushings, brake service, drive shaft modification, replace a couple of harness's under warranty, updated LTE modem and drive motors final drive oil, filter change. They don't normally do this unless stripping down the motors or replacing, something about lifetime oil-not sure of that, independents recommend around 100k service- I agree with that..

Tomorrow a new set of tyres go before she has a few big trips around the country

Having tyres fitted at Kwikfit, they couldn't get the tyres that are on the car currently. I wasn't happy, so they gave me a big discount on the Yokohama alternatives.

I always find Kwik Fit expensive in comparison to my local independents for the same tyres and whilst often the nominated place for company/lease cars, as a private owner they are too expensive plus the service can be poor (station dependent I guess!)

An example for my car the 19" Michelin Pilot Sport 4S I can get for £164 each plus £10 fitting per tyre so £348 fitted for the pair.
Kwik Fit want £566 fitted !

I had 4 tyres for £170 per tyre fitted from kwikfit.

I know some depots are greedy and you need to do your research. My local one seems very competitive

Kwik fit is on my 'never to be used again' list along with The Carphone Warehouse 😀

Like you say it's probably a bit like Halfords, where some branches are fine and others downright terrible.
