Assuming that you use Windows, take a look at Windows Movie Maker. I haven't used it yet, but I intend to have a play about with it soon.

Adobe premiere elements is what we use (at work) for the odd short film. At home, imovie - very simple and convenient.

For film editing I would try Windows movie maker; 1. as its already installed 2. its easy peasy 3. its not half bad!

There are loads of other programs you can buy that do great things, but they are generally alot harder to learn..

If you want to know how to edit photo's (I do my own and i mean on a really basic level lol im not that good , you can see www.flickr.com/photos/jamielong951) give me a shout!
