FNRttC Friday Night Ride to the Coast - Southend on Sea 7th November

Why not? You're in great shape, and you've been greatly missed. If you got bored you could always take the first train from Billericay or Rayleigh.

Oh Dell, I really wish I could, I lament two facts: Firstly, FNRs as we know them are 'finishing', secondly, sleep deprivation and adrenaline are a bit risky for health at the moment and I'm not yet ready to test this out even on the easy Southend ride. Hope to try an NR to see how it all goes soonish. I am getting the train in on Saturday to ride back - if I can shake this ridiculous cold and hoping to ride it fixed. Possibly see you all in the morning at the seafront.

The George is a no-no. They don't want us - although, going by the five minutes or so I spent waiting at the bar we shouldn't feel uniquely unloved.

St. Christopher's just down the way has a space out the back for parking bikes. Should I ask there?

MacB could drive a van full* of imbibery to Southend come to that...'No can do' could be translated into Knockando!

*My sort of full, not a Scots version of 'full' which would probably be one or two minatures on the passenger seat of a Minivan...a sort of McWobbly wheels affair...

Saturday near London bridge, Borough market, etc - v busy. Not surprising they don't want you.

The City on the other hand will be deserted on a Saturday, so if you can find somewhere open there you'll be welcomed I'd have thought.

Ay oop lad!
As this thread is degenerating since I started contributing to it Southend is such a dump with no morning hostelry etc (saved only by Marilyn Monroe at her balcony, on approach...) I thought to litter it with mikeeeee snaps. Couldn't find one where he wasn't holding hands with Des O (he'll be next to join in)...so.
Anyway, I found this snap of a couple of Rich P's party pals. August 2009, as I rolled into Brighton for a quick bite at Greg's, after escorting the (multi)colours to Preston Park on a memorable CTC ride - Delia Zegg, the on-road MC as ever... (Actually, is one Des and the other Mikeeee? Nah - they're not fixed - they look as though they freewheel a bit.)

Trust me Martin, I would LOVE to do the ride through the night but it's too much of a risk. I'm hoping to be there in the morning, perhaps more of you would consider the SMrbtL?
