So ive been cycling for few days and ive noticed something about my front derailleur, it has three gears while i have just two racks. After tinkering a little ive noticed that if i shift it to outer the chain grinds on the derailleur scaffold so i proceeded with derailleur mechanism and now i have four gears o0 but what is good is that chain grinds no more so it's slighty easier to pedal.

Now question is, did halfords fkd up or did i made it even worse?

THIS is the goto vid for many CC'ers regarding gear adjustment, hope it helps

It might help if you can tell us what bike you have. Don't worry though. Gears are not designed so you can use one front chain ring and all the rear sprockets as there are 'overlaps' and running gears like that does cause rub or chatter.

it's still very hard for me to shift down from outer, ive reduced chain grind but i cant get to make it properly, seems like i will need halfords mechanics after all or other local shop mechanic.

i got carrera tdf

well good job for me  i somehow put too much tension on shifter line (even tough i actually lowered it) and when i tried to change front shift it broke so no outer gear for me untill i got it fixed... luckily inner gear still works. (sad cuz it means no fierce downhills anymore untill fixed)
