To change the speed limit in built up areas from 30 to 20 imagine the inclrease in mourney time ect people needing to be at work at certain times would need to adjust ect rct

There wouldn't be any increase in journey times - certainly at the times most people are travelling to work. Jounrney times in built up areas (where such a limit should apply) are determined by how long it takes queue to get through junctions - not the peak speed you can reach between. them. It doesn't matter how soon you reach the back of a queue - it will take exactly the same amount of time to reach the front.

All residential roads should be reduced to 20 MPH and this enforced to bring an end to the 'rat run' shortcuts.
nice idea but the enforcement just doesn't have enough police/wardens etc to actually enforce it.

even the speedhumps don't work as you hear the twunts race to the bump, then slow rapidly then the scrawp of underbody on the hump then the race to the next one along the road I live.

Round our way the riders of trail/ motocross motorbikes use them as jumps. :cursing:
Maybe they should recruit some more traffic speed enforcers and give them radar equipped cameras, the first one they catch pays their wages for the day then the remainder goes to the government, win/win plus it makes the backstreets safer for the kids, pensioners, mothers with push chair and cyclists. They could even raise the speed limits on Motorways at the same time to appease the powerful 'car lobby' headcases.
