And I've also seen a "Ribble" shop, opening in our "posh" shopping centre and only selling mega expensive bikes
I popped in there at the weekend to look at their Ti jobbies (though a lovely blue steel did take my fancy). Had a chat with the manager. Nice enough chap. But yes, expensive bikes for expensive people.

Sheffield has just lost Langsett cycles that has been trading since 1890

That's not due to a downturn the owner what's to spend more time on his other business. The buildings owner is very keen and supportive of it remaining a bike shop.

Looking at companies house shows they weren't in a great state prior to Covid, had a quick peak in business and then went back to pre Covid levels. They have been struggling for the last 10+ years

The news report about closing did feel a bit odd clearly the staff know the inside side track. No wonder they are taking the chance to move on to other things.

At least 4 gone in my area that I can think of (and I don't originate from where I live). I only know one actual shop nearish me, Harry Perry in Woolwich. Bluewater which is close by, as mentioned has a Ribble but I only glance as I walk by, expensive and shiny but bland and I doubt if it would smell right either. So many gone now such a shame.

We're a nation of charity shops, estate agents, and call centres, with the odd foreign food specialist supermarket thrown in.

Anything else people buy online, where its cheaper. We're doing it to ourselves with our buying habits.

.... and vape shops. Don't forget the vape shops.
