Gyro sticking

Hi,

Anyone know why a Gyro on a bmx would start to stick after tightening the headset up as it was loose???

The brakes apply but then don't release properly until you tap the gyro.

Is the gyro something the brake cable goes through, if so it may need cleaning, or maybe the springs on the brakes are weakened though not sure why this would occur after tightening a headset.
