I bought a second hand bike this weekend that I suspect was stolen.
Why did I buy it? Because someone stole my precious Dawes Shadow some years ago and when I saw this for sale I went (a long distance!) after it in hope that it was a genuine sale and just perhaps even my old bike. It wasn't either of these but it had clearly been well looked after and once in the situation I made a snap decision to buy it and try and find the owner before somebody who didn't give a *** took it away.
I've notified the police who are checking records (and going after the seller), have checked lost bike registers (unsuccessfully) and also trying this way. The bike is postcoded, has some distinctive features and is quite an unusual frame size.
