Hi I have recently started using my bike again purely for fun and am loving every minute of it, I try to get out most days if I can and have done around 120 miles in the last 3 weeks, at the mo I'm using my old Raleigh mountain bike but it's bloody hard work! I ride mostly roads and really want something a bit quicker for keeping up with the traffic, even 20mph on the flat my legs are going ten to the dozen! What sort of bike should I be looking for to replace the Raleigh sub £500?? Any advice would be much appreciated

Welcome Stuartaw11. I would say at a guess that a hybrid would be fore for you. For £500 you could get something half decent. With a hybrid you get road bike gearing with a mtb style frame so you can bomb along the roads. That sounds ideal, some are 21 speed and some are 27, is the final gear ratio the same ?
