high res scanners

I'm building up quite a collection of histroic cycling photos - including a very nice one today of a race at the Kennington Oval between safety bikes and Pennies from around 1891/2

I need to scan them in and re-touch/enlarge some of them to use on display boards and am thinking of a buying a high res scanner. Anyone got any suggestions?

Yeah - don't bother. Get one of these from Misco - for £30 it'll give you way more resolution than you'll ever need. (Really easy to instal and use too.)

The enlargement size will vary but most of the time I want to take them out to A4ish. Trouble is with photo's that age is that a lot of them are tiny to begin with.

I wanted to scan 500 old photos for my parents' Golden Wedding. SCanning would have taken so long that I photographed them with my digital camera. Pretty good results in my view, which were perfect for running a slideshow via an LCD projector
