That's down near Wall Street I think, so look at hotels in the Financial District. Might be cheaper at weekends as its dead around there (like the City in London). Pretty well connected on the Subway however, just a bit of a trot up to the sights and shopping

Close to the City Hall if possible.

As what @vickster said. It's pretty dead around there at the weekends.
You could also look for hotels on Staten Island as the ferry (free) runs 24/7.

First of all, thanks again to everyone who replied to my thread.
Talking with my son today, apparently the wedding part only last 3 minutes ( conveyor belt system) so it is a lot of money for a 3 minutes ceremony as we would only stay 4 days. Also, I know I wouldn't feel comfortable in New York .
My son is planning a big family get together on the 17th when they are back from NY so I will definitively be there then.

@gavroche Why wouldn't you feel comfortable in NY? It's a wonderful city.
I am not one for big cities. I don't even like going to Liverpool ( just 1 hour away from me) . I much prefer the country side. Also the USA frightens me, to me, it means gun culture and greed. I may be wrong but that is the way I feel. I have been to many other countries, Australia, China, Singapore, most European countries with no problems though.
