Thought I'd post a little update on my injury sustained last December....caused by a SMIDSY car driver....

Had MRI's a couple of weeks ago, and EMG (nerve) tests yesterday. The EMG test results are immediate, although a report has to be written up. The EMG test's concentrated on the nerve signals in my arm - i.e. from elbow through to hand. Guess what.... perfectly healthy...(infact very good) phew..no carpel tunnel syndrone....

So...that points to nerve damage in neck or spine that's causing arm pain and finger tingles, as well as the AC injury in the shoulder which is totally seperate (or so I've been told).

The other good news, I have a cheque on the way to cover some more of my physio costs, which sort of points to the fact that the third party's insurers are co-operatative, phew !

Just got to wait till the reports get back to the specialist, go back to see them, and then see what's the score. TBH I doubt they will do much, other than advise that it will take time to recover - it's not as though this is an acute problem - lots of far more needy people out there.

That's the spirit. We all know of needy MPs who require various objects removing from bodily orifices as we speak.

Ah well..... long term knackered ness.....and a new bikey...TBH it's a damn good job it's taken so long to get my new bike, as I wouldn't have been able to ride it a few months back.... clouds / silver lining.....etc....... I was really struggling on the road bikes a couple of months back...

I was worried the third party insurers would hold off, not pay up, then cause issues....I'm still about £500 down on physio, but this keeps the credit card down a bit.... phew.......

TBH, like everyone, I just want it fixed....it's not been a bad injury, I put most of that down to being an experienced cyclist who is fitter than the average slob, and I know how to fall off...... but it's frustraiting......

The daft thing is, I can ride now for about 2-3 hours fine, can MTB for that - no flare ups...... sit in a stupid meeting for 3-4 hours...OMG does my shoulder/arm suffer..... so what's going on....

I did a couple of tests on it, did a very hilly ride on some new road wheels - double shake down.... battered the new wheels... battered my body...shoulder was fine. Next weekend, went totally off road....first time in many years.....shoulder....fine...... Sit in a meeting for 4 hours...agony.....

Crazy isn't it.......

You need to get a note from your GP absenting you from all meetings and prescribing a bike ride for the duration of the meeting you would be attending.

Probably for a couple of years at least.

Tough love, but it's for the best.

Glad you're doing well fossyant but it's been ages since December, that is a long recovery . The person who knocked you off should be forced to be your domestique for life.

Erm..it's not that long...check out some of the shoulder threads in Health and Fitness....... it's a complicated joint..... the consultant's a bit...'oh it will take a long time.....'.....

Glad to hear thing are looking up fossy and I hope things continue to improve  I'm no medical expert but I take it no carpel tunnel syndrome but possible nerve damage is a good thing

Well yep...i.e it's in the neck/spine shoulder - there is no arm/lower arm damage - i.e. it's the accident that had caused it..........
