The free publicity generated by a twitterstorm could be exactly what they are trying to achieve by the almost certainly empty threat.

But there is a difference between just taking photos and taking photos and displaying them on public media. But it looks like the hire Company is trying to create a smoke screen.
 
I think they'd copied a Cease and Desist letter off the internet, that's why it's in Americanese. Sometimes the people who run Twitter for companies are complete idiots.

The only difference is that everyone is now a publisher.

The right to take a photograph in a public place is just that, there's no caveat along the lines of 'but you musn't show it to anyone'.
