I'd stand by that, although I've never done it in the wet, and would worry about the brakes on the old crocks if it were wet.

The people in (or on) the cars are usually blue with cold, but manage to stay cheerful. And welcoming.

We're hoping to make this this year. We may need to throw in some extra stops though. We won't be doing it if the weather is like it was 2 years ago when my first pair of gloves were sodden by Croydon

I've no doubt that were you to do so it'd fit in with the flavour of the day.

I followed a bloke who was on a Penny-Farthing down the hill from Handcross to Staplefield a couple of years ago, ........ respect! the weather was absolutely foul, really wet, I was covering my brakes practically the whole way down.
