    For thems that's interested.

Saturday 18th February 3pm until 5pm at Manchester Velodrome

Stick your names down asap 'cos after that there is nothing until April . That is unless you want to go on a Monday or Tuesday at 11am.

    Same rules as before.

I'll have to wait until April unfortunately as I'm doing my first Audax on the 18th.

Yes colly, it clashes with the mini-Northwest Passage which quite a few of us intend to do.

Argghh. I want to do both!

Do you think I can get a clone of myself?

    MNWP err? Yes.

Well I have made a provisional booking so if numbers don't stack up I'll pull the plug.

Colly, could you post some more details for those of us who haven't a clue what's involved?

Will do. I need to take the dog out just now before he p****es all over the place so I'll do it when I get back in.

    Ok so.

It's two hours on the track with a coach to see we don't get up to mischief. For those who have never used the track before the coach will give you a 15 min or so induction into what to expect and the do's and don'ts.
You will need a track bike, which if you don't have your own can be hired, shoes with Look Delta cleats are required too and again they can be hired if you don't have any. Personally you will need your usual cycling gear (shorts, top, helmet, mitts and showering stuff etc)
The cost of the hire/coach is split by all who attend. I don't think it has changed since last time and that comes out at £252. We had 15 riders before xmas so it worked out at £17 each.

The cost of bike hire comes in at £10.50 and shoes, if required, are £4.50 so assuming we have a reasonable turn out of at least 15 you would be looking at a cost of just over £30. If less people turn up then the costs go up.
If there is enough interest I'll firm up the booking and pay the bill before we attend. On the day you pay for the bike and shoe hire at the desk on the way in and then settle up with me later.
Before the date I will need names for the insurance and also height so they can arrange for any hire bikes to be ready for us

The track bikes are Dolan, fixed wheel, no brakes. So long as you keep pedalling and keep your speed up on the bends you will be fine. ^_^

Last time out we had several first timers and everyone took to it like a duck to water (well all bar one)

That's about it really. I think a couple of bods who would have come are down for the MNWP so I'll see how things pan out. I think I can organise 5 or 6 who aren't members here so all we need is another 10 from the site. It's unlikely to be a problem but I think with first timers on the track a maximum number would be about 25. Maybe a few less. I doubt we will get those numbers but if we do then it's first come first served.

    Anything else just ask.

Funny this as we were walking by the velo just last night for a different sporting event and both bemoaned the fact we hadn't been on it this winter. We wondered when the next outing would be so I was excited at the prospect of this until I saw the date. My Christmas present was to scratch an itch and that itch is seeing the world's greatest singer before she's offski and she won't come to Britain so we have to go to New York to see her on the same date as the velo session is taking place! Damn you, Aretha Franklin!

ArethaFranklin ! I'd say she is well worth missing a session on the boards. Envious? Nah not me.

Matthew_T Thumbs up to those who give space

Sign me up colly. I would have done my taster by then so I will know what to expect (But dont expect me to be any good).

Sadly, still not fully recovered from my DVT, not allowed to do anything excessive, tried the bike last weekend and this weekend, fitness levels are non-existent.

I asked the other guys if they still wanted to go, but they are both on a course that weekend, (both work for Siemens)

Ta for the invite but I'm afraid that if I'm not at work and have the energy I think I'd prefer to do the mini NWP. It's all about the pies you see.

    Another time though please.

It's OK Mark. A good number of people are on the NWP who might have come along.
I booked it without realising there was a clash but I think I'll make the numbers anyway. I have 5 or 6 from over here who I am hoping will get along. Plus a couple of tentatives. There is over a month to go anyway.
