New Wheels for My Son's Bike

It's always the same with short riders, not being spotted:

This was at Darley Moor earlier this year. Guess which one is my son ...

In a race you'll see him pop his head up as he's too short to see the front if in a pack. On a long hill however the short, light riders have the advantage.

That cyclist is small, that one is far away. Hold on - he's not far away, is he! Feel sorry for the guy behind looking for a draft.

Strangely mine was from Darley Moor too.

Argh! Wheels come with a hub for 13mm through axle, and he's running 9mm quick release. Also 140 long for the rear, so need to check it can fit before I consider the adapter or return question.

OK - they're in a FB group I'm not part of. Once my 'request to join' is approved I'll have a look.

British Cycling regulations for Under 14's in road races have a limit of 35mm wheel depth.

These are 40mm. So, in a road race would not be permitted. It looks like they're the same for cyclocross: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/a...ges-for-youth-competition-programme-in-2016-0

As such you might buy them and find they're not allowed.

Those regulations appear to apply to road/circuit and track, but not cross. But as you say, there is a risk that they would not be allowed.
