Thanks for the further welcomes. Andy, I think I might try and see about joining a club later on, maybe in a couple of months. At present I think I might go down the more informal meets that seem to be arranged locally. At least until I get a bit of confidence that I can ride with other people without hindering or hampering.

I did a 44 miler today which I was knackered after. Have done very little else since I got back. :reading:

Hi billy! I stay in the west end but I work in Uddingston and I'm seriously impressed you commute that far. How do you get there in 10.5 miles? What route do you use? If I was fitter I would come out on a ride with you :P

Hi Lesley,

I do the route below on the way in. Its not that busy in the morning really and not to hilly (apart from St Vincent St which I actually like doing now apart from the lights).

I do basically the same route home, but drop down to Argyll St at the beginning.

Feel free to come out on a ride, or invite me to one . Only problem I have is fitting them in as I have my little boy every 2nd weekend. And I wouldn't worry about fitness. I'm far from fit.

Put the bike in for its first service today and pick it up tomorrow. Oh, and just won myself a Garmin 800 on ebay  after getting a bit lost at the weekend.

Hi Nicola, theres 8 of us from work doing the Five Ferries Challenge which is here:
http://5ferrychallenge.com/

It's a bit of a cheat really as we're doing it over a Friday and a Saturday (I had wanted to do it all in one day), but there are a few who havent been on a bike since the year dot, and are more or less turning up on a borrowed bike on the day. Fair play to them they will probably struggle to do the miles each day - but we wanted to do something that pretty much the whole team could get involved in to raise some money.

The JustGiving page is below if anyone wants to donate (please remove if it's not allowed mods) but we started off hoping to raise £500 and so far have raised over £1000 including non online ones. The good news is that Vodafone will match anything we raise as well - which is nice. So over £2000 quid to go to a good cause. ^_^

The 3 Cities sound like a great way to spend a week off work. Not too sure I could do that mileage every day though. Let me know and I'll throw a few quid your way
