Went out for a ride into the Dales today and finished off with a spin round a brand new track we have here in East Lancs. It's been built to commemorate the gold medal local lad Steven Burke brought back from the London Olympics. It's not a complete thing yet but the track is laid and finished. They are placing a metre-high fence around the track and putting a storage unit there and upgrading a local sports changing rooms on the opposite bank of the canal. I know all this as I was talking to two tarmac layers who were happy for me to test out the track and say which way round was preferable (anti-clock for me).
If you mag up this Garmin route and look at the section nearest to the M65 motorway you'll see a bit that looks like an old telephone. That's the track. It'll be fantastic when it's complete and fully open as I imagine there'll be many night's racing and some superb competition on this beast!
