Missed them yesterday. Too much time in the sun whilst camping and felt a bit of sun stroke so in bed early shivering. Hopefully might get a chance from Bala Lake tonight.

There are only mild geomagnetic storms going on at the moment but at the time of writing another large and active sunspot is turning to face us so it might be worth keeping an eye on the websites for news over the next week or so.

Not only is the Aurora a sight to behold, but radio hams can use it to reflect VHF signals back to earth in order to make the signal go further than would normally be expected, however due to a doppler effect and fluttering on the signal it can sound like Belzebub himself is talking over the radio, with a raspy,growly type of voice coming through, quite perturbing the first time you hear it!
