Last night i was a guest at the Leeds Arena,it's proper title is The First Direct Arena. This was in a private company box..I had no idea it was going to be that special. It was a surprise to be led to a seperate entrance then taken to a lift.
We also had our own Waitress who handed out our drinks. What a view high up,no obstructions,I was on the front row of only five seats with loads of leg room, another five seasts behind me.Then a sort of bar area with a settee and other chairs. This was luxury.Oh but how that dream was shattered, another group of nine joined us.Escorted by a female member of the company who owned the suite.
The show began with a warm up group, and as the singing and music got louder so did the twats behind me.The group finished and an interval took place,we all shared small talk,i said i was looking forward to hearing Caro Emerald who was a wonderful Artiste,i had looked her up on You Tube. The show continued but so did the talking very loudly behind me.What a shower of piss heads ,they should have gone to The Stick or Twist to booze and talk.Twats spoiled a wonderful evening for me,they had no bloody cl;ass or consideration for the four ois us.Thank you pillocks.
Sorry rant over.

They came for the free hospitality, not the artist. I wonder if the company makes any money out of them...

...or you for that matter ;)

Bit desperate if you'll do anything for a free drink, not you @postman the others I mean.

I've had similar offers in the past, but turned them down as an evening listening to the screeching of Boyzone can't be compensated for by free booze.

Some people are amazed when they find that out, "but it's a free bar!"

"Yeah, and it's Boyzone FFS!"

We get dragged along to seminars with the promise of biscuits. Not interesting or useful subject matter, biscuits. Mainly when the speaker is from a company we're trying to negotiate a contract with. If it's an internal speaker we get bugger all. Honestly, friggin' biscuits.

I was asked to represent our company at a yearly contractor safety meeting held by one of our customers last Friday.

Luckily it was only an hour and a quarter powerpoint presentation, and the buffet was lovely.

A couple of years ago I went to an evening with Frank Bruno , to be followed by a comedian and then a singer.
Tickets were between £40 - £50 quid, yet a good third chose to ignore Frank and preferred to just chat away and drink, three times the compare who was asking Frank the questions had to ask them to keep the noise down only to be ignored, as soon as the question /answer section was over Frank was out of there, with the comedian close behind, telling the singer "see if you can get above the sound of that shower of *****"
Why do people go to these events just to drink and chat , the answer is they are inconsiderate tossers.

If it's any consolation, I had to go to an event for work; not only did I get no free biscuits, I had to pay for my own diesel and it was on my day off.

I've been to a few of these evenings. It usually comes down to how interesting the speaker is. I remember not being able to hear Howard Kendal due to people chatting but he was mega-boring. Conversely there was another one where an Rugby League ex-ref was the speaker and he was fantastic and you could have heard a pin drop. Usually the crowd give them a chance. If they're no good, the chatting starts.
