Returning Advice

Hi CC it's been a while but I back posting to get some advice.

First the back ground and sob story. I really got into cycling 5or 6 years ago to lose weight, which I did with great success. Then I got caught up in corporate life and spat back out recently. During this time I was drinking and travelling lots with no time for pedalling thus the weight came back and the energy for cycling went.

I have been some dark places but just like Partridge I have bounced back. I am now really hoping to get the wheels turning again with commuting to work and weekend jaunts now that spring is here (damn you wether!).

I purchased a Trek SL1000 of a lovely chap on here during my peak and I love the bike. I've replaced the wheels after a pothole incident but this bike is a true gem. However I don't feel I'll use a road bike or need one again.

Thus I need some advice from internet land.
What I would like is:
  • A steel Frame (if poss)
  • Internal gearing hub thing
  • Bull bars
  • ability to take bobbly tyres
  • Rugged
  • Lug holes for pannier
Basically I want it to look pretty much like a single speed city bike (yes it's all about the style and aesthetics) with a the ability to take it out further when required. Think Charge Plug with added extras.

So the questions I pose to you experts are:
  • Are there any bikes that fit that description on the market?
  • Are there any SH bikes on here?
  • If I was to build could I do it from a SS?
  • What internal hubs should a be looking at?
It may be a little pie in the sky but I really am looking for I can make my own (but not build, ill get some one to do that bit). Something that is me and suits my oddities.

Any guidance will be returned with gratitude and love.

P.S Edit - I forgot to add, I'm a shorty so looking for a 52cm frame and want to do this around £500 mark.

Don't know about the bobbly tyres and I am sure you could add bull bars, but something like this?
