Phew!

Was browsing looking for (of all things) a Homer quote to use on the 'Day The Earth Stood Still' thread in Cafe, when Avast kicked in to warn me that the webpage was infected, but that it had blocked the page to prevent any infection of my machine.

Second time this has happened recently. Anyone else having bother with these website-based virus encounters?

Yes, had one yesterday on the laptop. AVG kicked in and grabbed it.

I find that Firefox is pretty good at stopping me accessing hijacked pages...

Funnily enough, I've only just gone back to IE from Firefox after the latest security scare. Perhaps I will go back to the Fox and stay this time.

Firefox and a script blocker like Noscript are the best protection you can have.
