Utter washout, huddled shivering under the marquee watching a few soggy, mud splattered kids slide around in an ever deeper quagmire. The day started off well with both vans stuck up to the rims in a bog. I bailed early back to Bristol only to run out of diesel on the M4, just five miles from home. Was recovered to a petrol station about a mile away from home, filled up and discovered that the battery was flat from leaving the lights and flashers on whilst waiting for the recovery vehicle. Another 45 minutes wait for the breakdown vehicle to arrive. I've never run out of fuel before, I didn't realise that in this van once the red light came on I had less than six miles left in the tank. Ho hum.
