Hi for various reasons I have not been cycling much in the last 2 years working 6 days a week kids and general cba I decided that today is the day that I make time to go out for a ride so off I went on my mtb/winter hack for a 15 mile spin . Omg I am so unfit it's embarrassing puffing like an old steam train over the slightest climb . So I have decided to set myself goals, every month what do you guys thing would be realistic ? My aim is to get back fit and do a 100miler by the spring /early summer . Thanks StuartStuart

Ride as much as you can with some rest days, increasing the distance gradually. Riding a heavy bike will increase the workload

My work patterns are still a bit odd I work 4on 4off on the days I am in work I am unable to cycle due to distances involved and I may work away for 3 nights so I really have 4days off out of 8 where I can ride . Is it best for me to just build the base miles and build up slowly
