@Dayvo Essex boys making dents in Aussies bats - maybe they will wear out all their bats by the time the Ashes start

Michael Clarke got a first-baller. Tom Moore, the bowler, plays for my old club, Brentwood CC. :okay:

Aussies went at 5 and over in getting their 562, Essex just below that with 164-1 at tea. Chelmsford isn't the biggest of grounds, but it's an intimate and 'cosy' place to watch/play cricket.

Bad news for Australia, but even worse for cricket lovers: Ryan Harris has been forced into retiring from all cricket forthwith. Looks like his knee won't last five minutes, let alone five Tests.

Sad day for cricket as he was a top bowler who gave his all, but also wasn't one of those loud, mouthy, sledging types.

Happy retirement, Rhino.

Mind you, having Pat Cummins as back-up is a bonus for them, although he too has had injury problems.

Essex lose by the odd run or two having lost their top order batsmen injured - in the two matches most of their batsmen have scored runs - their main bowlers apart from Lyon have performed pretty well - esp Starc - main event starts Wednesday

Mind you, having Pat Cummins as back-up is a bonus for them, although he too has had injury problems.

Interesting - they must think he is good - Test debut at 18 - injured with a stress fracture of the back - Now 22 and has only played in the longer form of the game 6 first class matches and his debut test

I only just found out that he held a British passport and almost chose to play for England.
He also played one match for Sussex in 2008 before being declared ineligible.

Just found this on youtube: David Lloyd explaining the inadequacies of wearing pink cricket boxes :eek:whilst facing Jeff Thomson at 95 mph, during the Ashes 1974/75.

That sounds like an oft repeated after-dinner routine if ever there was one. Most amusing none-the-less.

It is Wednesday - It is Cardiff - It is the First Ashes Test

Be interesting to see who chooses what when they win the toss - to my mind the vibes coming from the Aussies is that they are going to get out there and stick it to England whether that be the bat or ball -probably quite like it if England win toss and choose to bat - The England vibe seems to be more forget about what happened last time - new page - new players - not so much talk about rolling the Aussies over - more like just dont lose first test - same old? - have to hope that they are just sandbagging
