I don;t know if this has been mentioned before.
Why do modern bikes have so much black on them ie wheel rims,.stems,handlebars,cranks etc.,is it because its cheaper
I much prefer the shiny stuff

Not when you scratch it,with shiny it just polishes out.

I don't think it does, if anything it will exasperate it due to the contrasts of the shine shine blingy bling and the shadow the scratch leaves. No matter how much polishing you do.

I had terrible trouble finding non-black components for my wife's bike. Went with Campagnolo Athena and Ritchey Classic in the end.

Black components bearable other than black tape. Black frames a complete no no!
