So, I asked Foz to help me out with the build and while he's happy to, today I decided that I need to at least try and do this myself

I've ordered a nice set of ice toolz hex' and a bb tool

It's early days but I've done one of the jobs I never thought I could

The BB and cranks

Next I've asked for help on the know how board for the headset, I think if I can do the headset and bung thingy I'll be good to go for the rest

Wish me luck, I'll chronicle the build with pics ( unless I fail and pass it to Foz)

Well done Gaz.

Been a hectic last couple of weeks (kids have been in a local Theatre production so it's been rushing to and from rehersals and shows the last few weeks).

Headset - you can fit it with a block of wood and a hammer, and taking your time. Make sure you are only tapping the outer edge of the bearing race. Tap it in a little at a time, and make sure in goes in straight.

Take a look at on-line instructions if not sure. Headsets are the most tricky - be it fitting the races (on old headsets) or the bearings.

For the bung, this too can be tapped in to the steerer. I tend to use a socket which is just a few mm's less than the internal diameter of the steerer. Then I put the allen bolt through the socket and screw the socket to the bung. Then I tap the socket with a hammer to fit the bung - you can easily keep it level then.

Let me know if you really get stuck !

Thanks dude I'm 99% sure if I can get the headset in - then I'll be fine with the rest :-)

I'll probably look at getting the Chinese Carbon Frame later on in the year, which is when I will be bugging you about parts/fitting etc

Keep us updated with your progress too

so three carbon road bikes which are extremely similar? Not considered putting the money into some really awesome racing wheels or something? I guess whatever makes you happy is what you've got to do

But they are not the same animals by a long shot

The fm028 is relaxed and smooth, the fm015 is aggressive , the "Pina" is porn and feels nothing like the others

I don't race so can't see the point in racing wheels , this way I have a bike for all occasions and never need to use the family car/public transport etc

Id go mental if I couldn't cycle

Just out of interest, why don't you race?

I would have just spent the money getting a full set of brand name carbon bit's for the Cannondale instead, I bet few of the carbon frames ride better than the dale does and the dale will probably build up lighter.
