The Kranium Project is a cardboard helmet (also here).

It was smashed 5 times and then STILL passed the EN 1078 standard test.

Is that saying how irrelevant the test is, or is that telling us that we should all be wearing helmets out of recycled cardboard?

looks like it would catch alot of wind / cause drag

It shouldn't drag when one of the covers is fitted, I kinda like the transparent one tbh.

Cut to fit a head perfectly, cheaper to manufacture, stronger (much)...aesthetics do leave a bit to be desired, but as current helmets are more geared for aesthetics than safety anyway, you pays your money and takes your choice.
I hope the concept makes it past prototyping, especially as it makes a mockery of the majority of existing helmets - both in function and hopefully cost.

the cover makes it seem more do-able, you could always spray the inside of the cover I guess if you don't like the clear.... should imagine it'd be pretty easy for them to start being made in a less pudding bowl shape too
