Chatted to a bloke this morning who was on a Peugeot fixie. I was complimenting him on the bike - lovely frame - beautiful lugs. Turns out it's the same 1965 (or whatever) frame that Tommy Simpson rode in the TdF. This guy had bought it off his mate's grandfather who had it languising in his shed for years.

I don't think that was the claim. Nor was it, I believe, a claim that Tommy Simpson had actually ridden the bike. I assumed it was a replica of the team bike that Tommy rode. But maybe I made a wrong assumpton. Either way, it was still a beautiful bike and in pretty good nick too.

TBF, I did read it as the frame being of the same model, and not that it was the Simpson's frame.
