I've got some old Hope hubs on my bike. Spent £300 having the bike sorted end of last year and only original things left I reckon are the frame and Hubs. Had new rims put on. I only used the bike once a couple of months ago since all the work.....didnt notice any play. Used it again this week and its really noticeable.

Is it possible to get into the hub to tighten the bearing? I can't work out what to do.

Look at the LH side of the axil: there is a lock nut and a cone. These can be loosened or tightened to get the hub set up. There should be a very slight amount of movement at the wheel rim when correct. Make sure they are not over-tightened, as that will destroy the cones, which are inside the hub.

Hope hubs usually have sealed bearings without an adjustable pre-load - ie they can't be adjusted.

So you may have to knock out the old bearings and then press in some replacements.
