Living in Latin America, this is one of the highlights to the early season for me and it now seems to attract some classy teams and riders. Cav's going to be there, as I believe are Purito, "Lo Squalo" Nibali and Quintana.
These early season races are never really indicative of form for the big races, but sometimes it's nice to see some of the top riders open up their legs and show their form with a different backdrop as well as see some minnow teams from other countries fight the big boys.

Cracking line up though isn't it. Shown anywhere live or catch up?

Hannah Barnes' career will be a successful one. And she's only 20. Now she's with United Healthcare Womens Team in the US. Wasn't she the one who was temporarily given 2nd place because celebrating the victory was deemed "dangerous"?

except she crashed today and had to abandon after sustaining lots of cuts and needing stitches!.
Ah that explains her absence from the results - Sharon Laws is in 13'th place : http://www.edosof.com/2014/sanluisf

Another victim of the first stage was Vanendert, he injured his elbow in a fall
(you might remember him winning a TdF stage in 2011 on Plateau de Beille and making it quite hard for Sanchex to take the polka dot jersey)

Last season he struggled as well (amongst many things with a stomach infection)... this won't do much good for his morale this year

Sounds as if Quintana got a spectacular win yesterday.

Adam Yates was 10th and lies 12th overall. It's going to be interesting watching the Yates lads' progress this year. Already, the fact that they're not riding together in the first race of the season, seems to show a healthier attitude compared to the Schlecks imo.

Indeed, and a great result for Adam. Very pleased.

Quintana now on the overall lead after the TT - he was nowhere near winning it, but he got enough over the former leader to confirm it. And Mallori won it for Movistar too.

Arredondo wins again, Quintana third to keep the overall, and Adam Yates in 9th to go one up to 11th overall. So far, a good race for debutants in the WorldTour teams. One day to go.
