It might seem that it's taking ages to get the UK established as a real cycling nation but the UK's rise taken historically is really quite rapid. And credit to SweetSpot who, at least from the outside, seem to have been able to make that rise more solid.

(Talking of SweetSpot, has there been any progress on getting decent sponsorship for the women's ToB? I may have missed it. Not as a criticism of SweetSpot, more of a condemnation of British follow-the-pack sponsors.)

Superb day out on Hay Tor, Dartmoor for ToB last year. Miles better than the finish in Dartmouth town centre the previous year. The banked landscape gave everyone a great view & tv commentary was good too. Hope it's same again this year.

Couldn't agree more, there's a lot of mileage in supporting women's sport, it's definitely an area where ther is room for a sponsor to make a significant statement and heighten brand awareness at a relatively modest cost. Always consider that the Sweetspot model looks a lot like the TdF one, with multiple revenue streams from sponsors, towns, regions. Which means you don't depend on the whim of one major player who can then wreck years of work by pulling the plug. See Kelloggs, Prudential, as examples of a ToB which rested on money from one source, and ended as a result of exactly that.
