Unexplained stuff going missing

Stuff you went to get only to find it isn't there, I've been searching on and off for the last two days for a packet of biscuits. It's not the cost of them that justifies my continued searching as they only cost 35p. No i have to keep searching as i have to satisfy my curiosity as to where they've been hiding while i've been searching. Not only the biscuits but i've also lost a cap. It's a Tour d France black and yellow trim one, bought by my mum for my birthday just before her dementia started to set in, so it has sentimental value. I took it to work one day then left it in the car. The following day it'd gone. Either i've picked it up and put it somewhere without remembering or it's just disappeared?
Have you lost something and searched for ages in vain. Or has a long lost missing object turned up months or years later?

For the cap or the biscuits? I'm sure the biscuits are around where i'm sat now. Unless i'm losing it and i've put them in the freezer or summat?

Happens all the time in my house. I blame Mrs 26. F-i-L used to call M-i-L "Mum the mover". I think it must be genetic
