That's very thoughtful of you but needn't be a blocker - some of our other contributors don't let mere geographical distance stop them
My experience of arguing politics on the internet suggests that some people don't let mere planetary distance stop them.

Nobody needs to justify where they do or don't post on CycleChat and any introspection about Society, Culture and Politics needs to take place in that forum (as it does every few years or so).

Please let's not have any more "us" and "them" comments either; we're all members of the same forum and are free to use the Cafe and SC&P as is our want or mood. Politics, tea, Friday quiz, the 400 parts per million thread, are all part of the very broad and interesting two-tier off-topic forums we enjoy here. The fact the lighter stuff is separated from the deeper discussions is more a practical matter than anything else - it simply makes it easier for those with a preference to view the types of threads they're more interested in. Jump in and out of either pool to suit. :okay:

On a closing (technical) note - it is 30 days before new members can see the SC&P forum because we were losing too many new members to heated arguments during the first few days of their membership. The 30 days helps new members get a feel for the place before diving into the more emotive sphere of politics. :addict: :okay:

Cheers,
Shaun
