I saw that on Twitter yesterday. He should have seen that lump of wood regardless of waving. Freak incident.

Pointless cycling if you don't look anywhere but in front of your wheel continuously?

Whoops! It's nice to see a pleasant gesture though.. some of the ones that some of us get from other users.... haha (really should not have watched this 5 times in a row) it's that instantaneous appearance of a extra cyclist!

Why you should be pointing at obstacles and debris in the road while group riding and not waving at your mate coming in the other direction......possibly.

Very unfortunate accident but we didn't see who he was waving at, that may have been the cause of lapsed concentration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was tandemists! In all fairness I always give them a big hearty wave

The piece of wood is a red herring, it was the sudden realisation of the second rider that they were on the wrong side of the road, and in a panic jumped head first into the verge that caused it.
