Can anyone recommend a Scott 54 cm compact for my wife. We can only seem to find tripples. Looking at something with Sora for around £600.

My wife was toying between a specialised dolce £640 and a cannondale synapse £650 but perfers the look of the Scott bikes.

I'll let you know after tomorrow.

My wife is 5ft4in and looking for a similar compact. Hoping to try out Giant Avail 1, Cannondale, Fuji 1.1 and a Dolce. Others considered are the Felt ZW85 but none nearby to try.

Well Evans York only had the one bike in, Cannondale Synapse Women's Sora so not worth the 90 mile round trip.
Went to Hull and looked over the Avail 1, Specialized Dolce and a few Cannondales. She is now smitten with the Cannondale Synapse Women's disc 105 but guess what ? None in her size !!

If she is sure of the size she requires, I can recommend Sunset Cycles for an Internet purchase. I have had two bikes from them, both well set up. They appear to have the smaller sizes.

Paul's cycles can have bargains on Scott ladies models. I think they come up a little big so check the geometry if unable to test ride

They also do giant and cannondale

If potentially looking at giant, ash cycles can have good deals on past models. You might find tiagra for your budget

Also, not female specific but Planet X have been selling the rt58 with SRAM rival 22. Nicer slimmer hoods for female hands

Definitely needs a 54 but we can't find stock anywhere
Shame sunset don't have it especially with the 10% off - that would have saved £100 !

Colour scheme might be a bit marmite, but this is available in a 53cm, I assume rather than 54cm. The 55cm large is out of stock. In some models, it's 54cm and 56cm. Not a triple though

Or if there is budget flexibility ;)

Swift have a range of Scott online depending on which model you like, full RRP though

By the way, re reading every thing, a 54cm Top tube roadbike is way too big for someone of 5'4, I'm 5'10 and my 4 roadbikes are all a 54cm frame, 3 different brands

A 51cm might be ok with a fairly short stem, you can find the contessa geometry here

I've realised you are not the OP @Goobs but the comment ref size still stands!

Thanks Vickster - quickly popped into Evans and tried the Cannondale 51 and 54 together to confirm she was reaching with a 54.
Good news is there is plenty of 51 sizes around so happy days and hopefully we can grab one with the discount.

I've added a link now which gives the geometry of the Scott contessa above. A 51cm has a 52cm TT. Here again

http://www.scott-sports.com/us/en/products/238415014/SCOTT-Contessa-Speedster-15-Bike/

My 5'5 friend rides a 51cm synapse, she sometimes feels a tad stretched so tour wife should definitely ride on the bikes if possible, on the road or a turbo In store to see how it all feels

A too big bike can be a bad thing, one gave me chronic tennis elbow which needed two operations to fix

I'm sure you're planning on doing so but her choice of bike should be based on fit and comfort above its looks.

If you purchase from a good LBS they will probably be able to swap a triple for a compact. If you're buying online then you can use some of potential savings against a replacement crankset.
