I'm looking to convert my wife's trek road bike to flat bar as she isn't getting g on with the drops due or more to the point the shifters.

It's got 8 speed sora triple so need some flat bar shifters that will work with the existing mechs.

I have seen these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...ris+r243+8sp+brake+&+gear+shifter&cat=product
on crc that appear to do the job, if anyone has any experience of this advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

For some reason (probably work firewall) I can't open that link. In general any Shimano 8sp rear shifter should be compatible, but you'll need a road triple specific front one unless you want to change front mech too.

This pair should do the job which I think are what you linked to

They should work fine.

With flat bars you may need a longer stem to compensate for losing the forwards sections on the bars.

Another option, before you completely change the bike set up, is it the gear shifting or the braking that's causing the problems? If it's braking from the hoods, then you could try fitting cross top levers so she can brake from the flat section of the bars. Something like this.
