I recently picked up this Falcon Team Equipe from a local scrap-metal dealer. The plan is to use it for my commute after I've replaced the chainset & bars and had the rear wheel trued.

So far I've fitted my old Concor Lite saddle and removed the chain, cables and bars; I bought a quill convertor so I could use some Profile Airwing bars but I think they look really ugly...

Maybe they might look OK with some spacers under the stem. In the meantime I'm going to keep my eye open for some old drop bars and levers, and of course a decent double chainset.

Should look like this by the time I've finished (providing similar results can be achieved with v. little money)!

Thanks! Still wondering if it's viable to do a 17.5 mile commute with one gear...

Amazing what the right stem and a good clean can do!

Vero chainset, 46/17 gears.

Might have to all come apart as I think the frame is bent! We'll see how bad it is, first.

That looks ace, does need red tyres though. Get some Lithium 2's for £12-£15 each....

PS Bike TART here !!!!

Loving the work you've done!!!

Thanx! I did think of red tyres, but I thought blue would offset the red a bit.

Also, don't want to be mistaken for a Un*ted fan!!

With X-Lite bar ends fitted (I wasn't sure but they give a useful extra hand position):

And with the Concor Lite replaced with my trusty Charge Spoon:

Still not sure if the frame is bent; it seems to ride OK, so it can't be too bad...
